At the Plant Resilience Lab we are committed to foster an environment that is welcoming to everyone. We understand that diversity, inclusion, and equity are defining aspects of the Wisconsin Idea.
Diversity comes in many forms: origin, culture, sexuality, color, etc. Everyone deserves their place within science for ethical reasons, but diversity also is known to contribute for better outcomes in science. As an example, much of the research done in the Plant Resilience Lab is informed by Al’s origin in a different climate in the south of Brazil.
Al currently serves in the Horticulture Equity and Diversity Committee, and is part of the Recruitment and Mission statement working group.
Horticulture Equity and Diversity Committee Mission Statement – “To foster a scholarly and work environment that reflects the diversity of the world we live in, and that welcomes, respects, values, empowers, and includes all students, staff, faculty, and visitors”
